ABOUT ME

I am an Educational Psychologist and author with over 17 years experience in the Education sector.  I have a Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology from the University of East London, as well as a PGCE and BSc (Hons) in Psychology (1st class) from the University of Manchester.  I am a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).​  ​I volunteer as a mental health consultant for the children's charity, Bee-lieve Foundation, and am on the editorial board for the International Journal of Nurture in Education.

Having previously worked within local authorities and for a large multi-academy trust, I am experienced in working not only with children, but also with families, school staff and school leaders.  I believe strongly in empowering staff and carers with skills and knowledge, building relationships and making changes within the school environment to help children to flourish.  Collaboration is central to my approach, and I will work together with both the school and families to agree strategies to promote positive change. I take a strengths-based approach, exploring what children can do and building upon this, rather than focusing on what they cannot do.

I work with children with a wide range of special educational needs, including specific learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia), social, emotional and mental health needs, autism, attention differences, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing differences, and physical needs.  ​I am experienced in all areas of Educational Psychology, but am particularly passionate about mental health and emotional well-being in children and young people.
